Admissions

Interviews

All students are interviewed by the Principal or the Director of Studies. Admission at A level is based upon assessment at interview, GCSE results and previous school record. At other levels, written work and tests may be required. Prospective courses are fully discussed.

International students

ADMISSION

Collingham welcomes international students who meet our entry criteria. Currently, there are 37 overseas students at Collingham, from 11 different countries.

Collingham has been granted an A-rated licence by the UK Border Agency to act as a sponsor institution for Tier 4 (Student) Visa applicants.

Academic criteria for entry to the Sixth Form (to begin A level courses) are:

* Level of educational attainment of at least five passes at GCSE/O level, or equivalent
* Level of English Language at IELTS level 5 (minimum) or equivalent
* Satisfactory reports from the current or previous school

Additionally, the UK Border Agency rules require that the following documents be provided to support an application from an international student:

* Proof of identity (photocopy of passport)
* Proof of educational attainment (diplomas, certificates etc)
* Proof of English Language level (IELTS diploma or equivalent)
* Proof of ability to pay the first year’s fees (bank statement or bank letter of reference)

LOCATION

We offer international students an opportunity to study at an established Sixth Form College in a quiet, safe, residential area of central London, within easy reach of museums, libraries and buildings of historical interest.

WELFARE

Students receive an unrivalled level of support at Collingham: small classes facilitate the development of English language skills and optimise learning opportunities, as well as fostering friendly relations between students.

All students have a Personal Tutor, who will see them regularly and monitor progress and well-being. Personal Tutors also advise students on options for university and help with UCAS applications.

ENGLISH SUPPORT

English Language support classes (between 2 and 8 hours per week) are offered to international students to prepare them for the IELTS qualification, which is required for entry to university.

ACCOMMODATION

Collingham does not have its own residential facilities, but we give information and advice about suitable accommodation options nearby, including hostels, homestays and private rentals.

Further information for International Applicants can be obtained from Susan Oussedik, Deputy Principal (susan.oussedik@collingham.co.uk)
