AS and A2 Level Courses
Choices
We offer a wide choice of subjects, so that all students can follow courses which express their personal talents and interests, as well as preparing them for the future. There is no restriction on subject combinations. The majority of Collingham students follow a two-year course for A level. Four or five AS levels are taken in the first year, with most students going on to take three A levels in the second year. From the very start of the course, emphasis is put on developing the necessary analytical and writing skills. One-year courses are also available.
Sciences
There are three fully-equipped laboratories, serviced by trained technicians, for Chemistry, Biology and Physics, a specialist IT/Computing room and a Maths department. Students have access to computers on the Local Area Network and are increasingly encouraged to research topics using Internet-based resources, acquiring skills that are now essential for university life. In addition, they can refer to a range of publications, as well as to in-house specialist notes written by Heads of Department. We aim to develop in students the scientific disciplines of research, analysis and logical thought and to encourage their ability to think individually and creatively.
