Celebrating our creative students

2017 Art Exhibition

The Collingham Art Exhibition took place on Saturday 24th June. This annual exhibition gives our Art and Photography students a chance to showcase the product of their hard work throughout the year. The show included pieces selected for the ‘Young Art’ Exhibition which is displayed at the Royal College of Art. Once again this year we were impressed by the high quality of work  and offer our congratulations to the students on the outstanding efforts.

Collingham Oscars

This year's Collingham Oscars ceremony was as dazzling and glamorous as ever, with all attendees nervous to see which way the jury's favour would swing.  The competition was stiff this year, with all productions from both years 12 and 13 showing excellent technical flair and creative approaches to storytelling.

The Year 12 opening sequences to thrillers were evenly matched, but ultimately the jury decided that 'Absented', directed by Jessica, shot by Perry and edited by Harry was a step above both in terms of its impact. Joe, who appears in two of the Year 13 productions, was the unanimous pick for Best Actor, blowing the competition away.  Dina picked up the Best Editor gong and Best Screenplay was awarded to Kat C and Ivan for 'As Time Goes By'.

Charles' and Joe’s film ‘The Drop', a tale set amongst the capital's criminal underclass, was the ultimate winner with the jury praising the inventive non-linear narrative structure as well as the excellent cinematography.

On such a night, with so many strong contenders, it's a shame that there have to be any losers, and although all ultimately left with their heads held high, the winners' grace in victory ended the evening in a celebratory note.
